Once you have obtained the OU_Biomek2000_protocols.zip file, copied it to a DOS disk and un-zipped it, follow the directions below for installation.
B2K Method Transfer for Version 1.4 Bioworks Software
Before you transfer methods from, or to, a floppy disk, make sure the default lab book is not "NEWBOOK." To check which lab book is currently open,
1. Double click on the "Bioworks" icon.
2. Double click on "Lab Book Manager."
3. See which lab book is currently open. If any Lab Book other than "NewBook" is open, click on "Close."
4. If "NewBook" is the current lab book, click on any lab book to change to and click on the "Set as Default Lab Book." Single click on "Close."
Setup for Transferring Method from a computer to a floppy:
1. Double click on the "Bioworks" icon.
2. Insert a blank formatted floppy disk into Drive A.
3. Double click on "Lab Book Manager."
4. Single click on the lab book "Newbook."
5. Single click on "Copy."
6. Give this lab book a new name (this can be any name, I used OUPROT) and name the new path, A:\OUPROT.
7. Single click on "OK".
8. Click on "Close" to exit "Lab Book Manager."
9. Remove the floppy disk and label it.
Transferring Method from a computer to a floppy:
1. Double click on "Bioworks" icon.
2. Insert the labeled formatted disk from step 9 above.
3. Double click on "Edit."
4. Single click on "Options" and then on "Select Lab Book."
5. Single click on the lab book with the method to transfer and single click on "Select."
6. Single click on "Method" and then single click on "Export."
7. Single click on the method to transfer and then single click on the box "Export."
8. Single click on the Lab Book Name to export (OUPROT, in this case) and click on "OK."
9. If any screens come up asking to overwrite, answer "Yes" to all.
10. Click on "Close" amd exit "Edit." Remove floppy disk.
Transferring Method from a floppy to a computer:
1. Insert the labeled formatted disk from step 10 of transferring method from a computer to floppy into drive A.
2. Double click on "Edit."
3. Single click on "Options" and then on "Select Lab Book."
4. Single click on the lab book where the method will be transferred to and click "Select."
5. Single click on "Method" and then single click on "Import."
6. Single click on "Other Source" and then type "A:\OUPROT" in Directory then click "OK."
7. Single click on the method to import and click "OK."
8. If any screens come up asking to overwrite, answer "Yes" to all.
9. Click on "Close" and exit "Edit" and remove floppy disk.
